District Attorney
Our Position: George Gascon
The District Attorney’s Office is one of the most powerful but least known branches in LA County, and its tentacles touch everything from police accountability to charging and sentencing to bail and plea bargaining to immigration. George Gascon is the District Attorney we need to continue to move criminal justice reform efforts in LA County

Prop 16: Repealing the Ban on Affirmative Action
Our Position: VOTE YES
This ballot measure is comprised of nine words. It is short and to the point—repeal Proposition 209. As social justice activists have recently demanded an end to systemic racism, leaders in Sacramento added Prop 16 to the ballot to address deeply rooted inequities that have taken centerstage locally, nationally and globally.
Prop 17: Restoring Voting Rights to System Impacted People
Our Position: VOTE YES
California allows people on probation to vote, but denies people on parole that same right until parole is completed. This measure was also place on the upcoming ballot by the CA Legislature, and, if passed, would put an end to an unfair distinction that suppresses the voting rights of those impacted by the justice system.
Prop 18: Vote@17
Our Position: VOTE YES
Studies have shown that when young voters participate in their first few consecutive elections, they are more likely to become lifetime voters which can only strengthen our democracy over time. Young people across California are leading the “Vote at 16” movement because the believe it is critical to making sure young adults develop the habit over voting earlier and often.
Prop 19: Realtors Measure
Our Position: VOTE NO
This measure does not provide any additional housing and is simply a revamp of Prop 5 proposed by the Realtors and defeated in 2018.
Prop 20: Rollbacks on Parole
Our Position: VOTE NO
Prop 20 would allow some theft- related crimes to be charged as felonies and it would create two new crime categories: serial theft (applicable only to a select list of crimes and to defendants who have prior convictions for certain crimes) and organized retail theft (two or more people involved in theft crimes within a 180-day period). Both offenses could result in jail time.
Prop 21: Rent Control
Our Position: VOTE YES
Proposition 21 would allow cities and counties to apply rent control to housing that is more than 15 years old, with the exception of some single-family homes. The ballot measure would allow local governments to impose limits on rent increases when a new renter moved in. The bill would replace any local rent control rules. In Los Angeles, for example, it could mean many more housing units would be eligible for limits on what a landlord could charge.
Prop 22: App Based Workers

This measure removes important advances for independent contract workers that require workers protections like minimum wage, paid sick leave and unemployment insurance.
Prop 23: Dialysis Regulation
Our Position: VOTE YES
Increases regulation to ensure licensed physicians are on site
Prop 24: Consumer Privacy
Our Position: VOTE NO
Creates more burdens on people of color and low-income people to protect their online privacy; eliminates requirement for internet companies to report to statewide registry; and the initiative would completely rewrite the CA Consumer Privacy Act.
Prop 25: Cash Bail
Our Position: YES
This law, if passed, would eliminate the practice of offering cash to those who can’t afford to pay for early release.
